Writing the words for your business.

Serve your small business lovin’ clients more & overthink your marketing less!

You built a
local business.

You make stuff happen every day, and you wear a lot of hats while you do. You’re capable of writing (obviously), but piecemealing words together in a strategic way is draining, confusing and, of course, time-consuming.

Good news — you don’t have to do it alone anymore.

I’m Sarah Stricker, and you could say I’m the Local Type.

As your neighbor, I care about the success of your business. Whether I'm on the coast, in the mountains, or on a road trip somewhere in between, I'm looking for one thing — local specialties.

As a copy and content writer, my goal is to partner with you to raise brand awareness and support your entrepreneurial goals.

My professional experience includes journalism and marketing roles, but I've also logged hours as a barista, dance instructor and janitor. I'll save the rest of my experience (and my Tar Heel pride) for my resume.

Let’s create a marketing strategy that supports your unique needs and helps others discover why your business is one-of-a-kind!

Is Local Type the right fit for your business? We’d make a great team if…

YOU CREATE.

There’s something about creatives that’s sticky. Maybe it’s the glue — maybe it’s the passion to constantly be learning and growing. Examples: Designers, dance studios, photographers, etc.

YOU CONNECT.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “community over competition,” but some business owners take this a step further and serve their people by being a word-of-mouth influencer in their circle.

YOU CARE.

Unless we’re careful, the entrepreneurial spirit can take over our lives. In my experience, local business owners who prioritize people over profit are less likely to burnout and more fun to work with.

Is this friends? Could we be friends? If these attributes describe you, I’m eager to hear from you. Let’s brainstorm ways to make your marketing memorable.

What locals like you are saying…

These small business owners think I have street cred and trust me as a writer. Funny – I think they’re fantastic, too!

“We enjoyed working with Sarah! She was able to provide exactly what we needed for posting on Instagram and Facebook. She was responsive to our comments and edits, and we'll be able to use everything she provided. Great value for a small business!”

Amy Lamb and Beth Berger, Wonderland Bookshop (Greensboro, NC)

“Sarah was excellent to work with. She delivered above and beyond my expectations. I cannot wait to utilize the copy she provided to my business, Brandwell.”

— Victoria Marcouillier, BrandWell (Lynchburg, VA)

“Sarah was prompt with emails & the copy she created for MYP. She listened to how I wanted things ordered and created social media captions that related to my brand and the creative content I wanted to share with my audience.”

Why Support Local?

Supporting local businesses empowers your community, but it’s more than that. Local businesses have real people behind their brands. They’re full of personality and culture. And like the iconic American sitcom Cheers taught us, sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.

It’s about caring for our neighbors.

It’s about funding our community.

It’s about having a heck of a lot of fun.
