Give your customers a guide to shopping small (with you) this holiday season — it's not too late!

As a small business owner, you’re keenly aware of your competitors during the holiday season. But… I’m not here to help you compete with them.

I’m here to help you SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY and MAKE GIFT GIVING EASY & FUN this year!

Here are some content marketing ideas to help you prepare for the holiday shopping season whether you own a product-based business OR a service-based business.

Content marketing ideas for product-based small businesses

  1. Start a Countdown to Christmas email campaign that highlights some of your most popular products (12 earrings dangling, 11 candles burning, etc.)

  2. Ask Me Anything Instagram Stories the Gift Giving Edition – Ask your followers who they’re shopping for (sister, husband, cousin, friend) and give them gift ideas in real time with IG story gift ideas.

  3. Create a "For Your Favorite Coffee Lover" guide OR a "For Your Favorite Middle-Grade Reader" guide in print or online. (Remember, these guides can come in all shapes and sizes. So, create a blog, an email campaign, several social media posts — or all the above.)

Content marketing ideas for service-based small businesses

Don't underestimate your ability to sell because you don't sell a physical product. You sell an experience through what you teach or the service you provide. Printable gift certificates are going to be your best friend.

  1. Create a "Class in a Sock" printable gift certificate that your clients can purchase and tie-up with string for their child's stocking.

  2. Create a "New Year, New Hair" printable gift certificate for your color, cut and style hair salon clients. (Remember, your audience is likely the person receiving this gift. So, make it easy for them to drop hints with their loved ones.)

  3. Create a "Fresh Start" printable gift certificate that your clients can gift to their friends and family. A new look for the new year is going to be especially welcome in 2021.

Pro Tip: Be intentional and clear when writing the fine print for the gift certificates. Will your certificates include an expiration date, timeline, limited product/service?

Don't see an idea that you think would work for your specific business? Respond to this email and let me know! I'd love to offer a fresh perspective and help brainstorm!

There’s no one right answer for every business so do whatever you believe will be best for your business and community.
