Why is it so hard to write for your biz?

Gooooood Mornin’ to Ya!

Why is it so much easier to talk about your business than it is to write copy for it?

After working for a handful of local businesses as a part or full-time employee, I realized that writing social posts, emails, website copy, etc. doesn’t come naturally to everyone — and I don’t just mean the spelling and grammar aspect of it.

Coming up with an idea, writing, and hitting publish is a daunting task. When I realized that, I realized I could put my imagination, organizational tilt, and journalism experience to work for local business owners.

Since then, I’ve made lots of friends with local businesses and served over a dozen businesses.

One of my newish clients turned friend (Hi, Anna!) said, “Before hiring a copywriter, I was concerned that there was no possible way she could write something that sounded like I wrote it. I'm not sure how she did it, but with minimal input on my end I now have a whole heap of content that I feel 100% confident in and I'm so excited about pushing out to my audience.”

How do you think this comment made me feel?

Yeah, you should know that AT MINIMUM I do a little, groovy dance and tell my husband when you pay me a compliment like that.

If writing or updating website copy is on your to-do list, let me know.

I’d love to get to know you and your business to help you get clear on your brand messaging essentials.

P.S. One of the things on Local Type’s internal copywriting to-do list is to update the experience page, but it exists and you can find it at localtypeco.com/experience.
